Carmen has worked in tripartite treaty negotiations, anti-racism consulting, and corporate EDI roles. She is a historian by training, and much of her research has focused on Indigenous women’s resistance to colonialism in the 20th century. Her identity, family, and the idea of future generations are all central to what she does. She is proud of the legacy of her ancestors, which include Chinese immigrants who paid the Head Tax in the 1920s, and Red River Métis who took scrip in the late 1800’s. She is a citizen of the Manitoba Métis Federation.
